Continuing Education

A Florida Home Inspector is required to complete 14 hours of Continuing Education. We strive to allow an individual to meet the CILB (contractors) continuing education and their Home Inspectors continuing education in (ONE) 14 hour class.  Check with the Contractors Institute or call them at 1-877-542-3673.

Here is the Information on Continuing Education from the State of Florida

F.S. 468.8316 Continuing education.

(1)The department may not renew a license until the licensee submits proof satisfactory to the department that during the 2 years before application for renewal the licensee completed at least 14 hours of continuing education. Of the 14 hours, at least 2 hours must be in hurricane mitigation training that includes hurricane mitigation techniques and compliance with the uniform mitigation verification inspection form developed under s. 627.711(2). The department shall adopt rules establishing criteria for approving continuing education providers and courses.
(2)The department may prescribe by rule additional continuing professional education hours, not to exceed 25 percent of the total hours required, for failure to complete the hours required for renewal by the end of the reestablishment period.

61-30.503 (5)(b)     Course Approval, Prelicensure and Continuing Education.
(b) For general continuing education courses, course topics concerning home inspection services or the components of a home, including the limited visual examination of the following readily accessible installed systems and components of a home for the purpose of providing a written report of the condition of the home:
1. The structure,
2. Electrical system,
3. HVAC system,
4. Roof covering,
5. Plumbing system,
6. Interior components,
7. Exterior components, and
8. Site conditions that affect the structure.
(c) The required two (2) hours of instruction regarding hurricane mitigation training shall include training on completion of the “Uniform Mitigation Verification Inspection Form,” OIR-B1-1802 (Rev. 01/12), incorporated by reference in Rule 69O-170.0155, F.A.C. (eff. 2/1/12).
